Today is the official start of a new NHS mental health trust that will serve five boroughs in North London. There are now three NHS trusts in North London: Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey (BEH), Camden and Islington, and the North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT). This change aims to improve mental health services across the region by making them more organized and efficient for people in the area.

A Year In The Making – 醞釀已久的一年
The union has been in place for more than a year. It was first discussed in March and Health Secretary Wes Streeting later approved it. The North London Mental Health Partnership was a success in which the two previous trusts worked together under a single leadership team. NLFT builds on that.

The partnership was run by a single chair, CEO, and senior team for many years. This collaboration set the stage for a full merger which would have made the trust bigger and better and allowed it to meet the growing mental health needs of North London.

A Bigger, Stronger Service – 更大更強的服務
The NLFT which was just formed will now be in charge of mental health services in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden, and Islington. It will help people of all ages with their mental health in both short-term and long-term ways.
新成立的NLFT將負責Barnet、Enfield、Haringey、Camden及Islington五個行政區的精神健康服務，涵蓋所有年齡層，提供短期及長期支援。
The trust will also offer specialized services nationwide and in certain regions. Some of these are:
- Personality disorder services
- Inpatient mental health care for kids
- Inpatient care for eating disorders
- Providing forensic mental health services to help people with serious mental illnesses who are in the criminal justice system

The trust will have a yearly budget of £670 million and 6000 employees. NLFT is now one of the biggest mental health trusts in the country and has the power to significantly improve mental health services in the area.

A Focus On The Future – 著眼未來
The new trust leaders have big plans. Their goals are to provide better care, make neighborhoods healthy and improve workplaces for staff.

The NLFT leaders think combining the resources and skills of the two previous trusts will make care more uniform, faster response times, and shorter waiting lists.
